| (photo on home page) ~LAURA ALICE SULLENS RUSH~ ****For questions or corrections, please contact me at: sweetpandycandy@yahoo.com {~~~COMPOTARO is Italian for 'Camp of Gold'. The Compotaro's are mainly in New Jersey area. The family plot is Siloam Cemetery in Cumberland County, Vineland, New Jersey. The Italian family came from Naples, Italy. Ralph Compotaro (b: 5/15/1881 Naples, Italy) married Antoinetta PARAVE (b: 8/13/1895 NY), who is also Italian. Antoinetta's last name was legally changed after her family moved to the United States. The families original surname was PARAPUGNO meaning 'Pair of Fist' or 'Boxer'. They may have primarily came from Calabria, Italy. Her father & mother were born there. Antoinetta's mother's name is Carmella DeGaetano Testa. Her father's name was Carmine Charles Parave (Carmen Parave on his tombstone). His father's name was Frank Parapugno. Antoinetta had one sister named Josephine. Josephine was married to Angelo Testa. Carmine has a brother named Peter and another one named Louie. Peter married Mary Joseph/Josephine, maiden name unknown. Mary came to the USA blind. It's unknown to what happened to Peter. Peter & Mary's son was Frank Parave, Sr. who married Mary Curio. ~~~PEARSON is an Irish name, as far as I know. I can track back as far as Thomas M. Pearson (b: 1853). His wife was Nellie C. LEFFERTS (b: 1864). They are both burried at Siloam Cemetery in Vineland, Cumberland Co., New Jersey. Their son was Frank R. Pearson (b: 1891-1942 West Virginia). He married Blanche N. GREGORY (b: 5/10/1894 NJ). They are both, also burried at Siloam Cemetery. ~~~RUSH appears to be Scotch Irish. Many of the Rush's live in Missouri area. The furthest I've gone back to is Henson R. Rush (b: 1800 Virginia). His wife was Margaret STOUT (b: 1802 Virginia). Many people have traced her family back to royalty. In Later years, William Edgar Rush (b: 9/20/1886 MO) marries Laura Alice SULLENS (b: 3/18/1888 AR). Laura out lives her husband by 32 years. After his unfortunate death, she is left to raise 10 children on her own. When she's older she ends up raising three of her grandchildren. I found information that she was living as a boarder at age 13. Her parents were Benjamin Franklin Sullens (b: 1/3/1853 MO) and Malinda Alice Sullivan (b: 4/9/1854 MO). I traced her father's side back to Richard Sullens (b: Abt. 1720 British Isles). On her mother's side, I went back to Peter O. Sullivan (b: Abt. 1710 Ireland?) and Emma Craven (Abt. 1710 VA). ~~~SCOTT and MATHIS are the other names I am researching. Robert "Bob" W. Scott (b:4/10/1878 KY) marries Annie Mae Mathis (b: 8/26/1895 AR). I found Robert's great-great-great-grandparents, Baptist Scott & Betsy Elizabeth FARQUHAR. So far I am stuck on Baptist Scott. Annie Mae's father. John Clark Mathis, was shot by an intruder when she was young. She was only 11 when her mother, Loraine/Lorena Edward(s) Mathis passed away. Her step-father told her she was going to an orphanage. So she and brother, Orlie Clyde Mathis (13 yrs), ran away leaving their half-brother, Orval? (abt 18 mo), behind. Annie and Robert Scott were both burried at Kellers Chapel Cemetery in Jonesboro, Craighead Co., Arkansas. Robert Scott's mother was burried there as well (Margaret Francis Powell Scott). Annie Mae's mother was full Cherokee Indian. She is buried somewhere in Craighead CO, Lake City, AR.} | ||
